3 weeks ago, Italian’s photographer Monyart organized together with Rosalie Bak the 6th Edition of Cut/Copy in the wonderful venue of the House of Rising.
I was invited to come and record the photoshoot with a video camera, from the making up of the models to the final shooting and then make a short video out of it. It was a very nice event and I’m glad I went there as the content inspired me a lot !
Girls were really pretty and boys… were girls ! “Femmes Fatales and fake mustaches” gives some unexpected and very interesting results !
This title is a tribute to a former tv show which was famous in the 90s in France for talking about the night life in Paris. We could translate it by “Black glasses for White night” and fits perfectly for this article :
On Saturday September 10th I had a great time performing with Fiiix and Laurent Dathie at the Spikeru Koncertzale in Riga for the latvian white night called Balta Nakts.
We were wearing these special Nunettes glasses made in France and I do believe they had much success as even the National TV integrated some images from our show in the National news the day after !
For one night the amazing venue was transformed into a night club for this “Nuit Blanche – French Electro Night” event and I had the pleasure to animate live my home made videos on a 8 meters large screen in front of some 2500 people who attended this party.
I was performing on stage with the Djs and the video projectors were at the same time used as spotlights on the rythm of my videos… such an interactive and precise combination !
We also had an interview on TV5 Latvia which was translated in Russian in the National News and they also recorded some of the videos I prepared with After Effects for the event !
Then 2 radio interviews were waiting for us :1st was Radio Naba for the Show “French Connection.lv” animated by Marika Kozla at 19h30 on thursday September 8th and 2nd was on Radio 101for an interview by Toms Grēviņš at 21h30 on Friday 9th.We already got a lot of positive feedback since, probably because we managed to make the people dance for almost 8 hours… it was a great show !Also I have to state that all the video installation was based on a single laptop !!! My brand new G74Sx from Asus made the job and the additional video card from Matrox allowed me to animate 3 screens at the same time ! ( the background screen was in fact 2 screens linked + on the other side a HD TV. ) I had indeed my wireless wiimote controler to animated the Vj software while I was dancing next to the Dj !
Latvijas Koncerti organised perfectly this event and the technical setup. It’s really relaxing to just need to plug your latop and ask for what kind of device you want and where you want them to install it ! Usually I do it by myself but such a big screen installation requires additional technicians and I’m always happy to work with professionals like them !
They also filmed all night long and I have few hours of rush to edit now for a short documentary about our travel in Latvia.

On September 10th 2011, I will be performing with 2 french Djs for a unique music and video event in Riga, Latvia, during the Baltā Nakts . It’s a free official event and will take place in the wonderful Spīkeru koncertzāle in the center of Riga. “Nuit Blanche” is a French electro night were crazy visuals will be edited live with the music from Fiiix (Paris, Amsterdam) and Laurent Dathie (Riga). After performing with Fiiix in many clubs in Amsterdam these last 3 years, it’s time for us to go even more international and spread our french touch to the rest of Europe. We will transform the place into an Electro club and make people dance non stop during the long and beautiful museum night .
The event will be promoted in national Radios and magazines in Latvia and we are doing our best to get some promotion in France and Netherlands too… some interesting contacts have been taken already and we hope that people will share this info as much as they can !
Begining of 2011 I moved from Amsterdam to Paris for a very exciting adventure : One of my old friend asked for my assistance on a video project he was creating called “Akim”.
The deal was simple, most of the scenes of the short movie would be recorded with a green screen as background and I would have to work with Adobe After Effects in order to change the green screen to wicked “post Armagedon” landscapes and make the characters fly ! Thanks to my previous experience with the editing of the music video Let it go I felt confident with facing this challenge and accepted to have a break with the live videos in order to assist him… hard descision to take but I could not miss this oportunity.
Thanks to the help of his productor Gang Films, the director managed to build a technical team and to recruit professional actors… for free ! Everyone was so excited by this creative and fresh project that they all accepted to help the young director Nicolas : Stuntmen, professional fighters such as the Dona Brothers, elite troops… the film set looked like a high budget movie and we really had fun during the week of video shooting.
But that was only the begining… 3 month of post production were waiting for me and my home made wicked computer !
Thanks to my advanced training at Adobe in Amsterdam I managed pretty well to insert the characters into the landscapes and make them fly… until space !
I have to admit that I did have to act as a flying stuntman and it was sometimes weird to edit videos of myself but I am quite proud of the result !
I finished the editing about 1 month ago and now a post production team is working on the soundtrack and the color correction. I can’t wait to show you the final result, be sure that you’ll be the first to watch it online !
Friday December 10th, from 10 pm to 5 am, meet the Bon Esprit party animals at the Winston Kingdom in Amsterdam. 1 month after the great succes of “Pffff…” in November, Bon Esprit is back in the Red Light District for a new event called Asociaal ! A mix of Decadence and Elegance with Djs from France and Russia.
The first part will start around 22.30 with a concert from Fusée Dorée, then our favorite painter Monark will perform live on black canvas while I’ll be animating the videos on the awesome hudge screens. Mony Art will come to shoot some nice pictures of the guests and the artists. You can see the photos from the previous event at the Winston Kingdom on her website.
We really had a great moment last time there and I’m looking forward to working again with their crew, this event might happen on a monthly basis in the future if everything goes well so let’s make it big on Friday !
